My favourite places @ New York

A week back to the Malaysia soil but I feel that my body clock kind of still in the New York zone, hence I decided to share some of the places that I love most about this city.

I know my top pick for this sound cliche but I think it's a must for anyone who first step foot into the big Apple.

It's none other than the famous Times Square which is located along 42nd St which is always so full of life and all the colourful lights never failed to fascinate me. In fact, the 2 weeks I spend in New York, this is the place where I hang out the most, for the Broadway, movies and not forgeting the yummylicious Cold Stone ice cream. I hereby declare it's my current favourite ice cream beating Ben & Jerry!

Times Square

Brooklyn Bridge

My second pick would be the famous Brooklyn bridge simply because I have this obsession on bridges. I always think that the metaphor behind this amazing architecture is, a bridge connects between two piece of land which otherwise are separated from each other.

My third pick would be the famous Central Park. Just for chilling out!

Central Park

Top of Rockefeller

Fourth would be the top of the Rockefeller where one can catch this stunning view over the whole of New York city although it can be tad too windy!

Lastly, you never feel you have visited this city if you never been to the famous iconic Statue of Liberty.

Brooklyn Bridge @ New York

the stunning skyline

the famous bridge

A business trip to NYC this time gave me another chance to visit the famous Brooklyn Bridge which connects between Manhattan and Brooklyn. I was dying to walk along the bridge the first time I was in New York 4 years ago but then at that time, my bro was more interested to bring us to the chinatown!

So this around, I managed to at least get to the Brooklyn side to view the Manhattan skyline as well as trying the most famous pizza in town, Grimaldi's Pizza. We had to wait for about an hour to get a seat but the pizza never disappoint us. The most delicious pizza I had tasted so far :)

I have a mission

So what kind of mission exactly when I am away at this vibrant New York City?

1. To catch a broadway. The last time I was in the Big Apple back in 2008, I didnt manage to catch one and subsequently I watched 2 West End (Lion King and Wicked) in London and since then had fallen in love with musicals and broadway. So this time I must catch a broadway in NYC!

2. To eat my Ben & Jerry's
Too bad they didnt sell in Malaysia :(

3. To shop for my Coach

4. To snap a photo of the Brooklyn bridge overlooking the Manhattan skyline
That's for my non moveable asset deco though I kind of already shorlisted a few of my photos

ps: and I am writting all this from the apartment I am staying currently..with stunning view of the Manhattan skyline as well as amazing interior

Reflection

One of my favourite 'must shoot' scenary would be reflections.

Reflections could be from the water (which are most of my photos), glass, mirrors, etc.

What so special of photographing a mirror image of a subject? Just check out the photos and see.

Roars of the Niagara Falls

view from Prospect Point

The video is taken by my dad to show how thundering and loud the falls can be

Niagara Falls is the largest waterfall in the world and situated at the border of US and Canada. We managed only to see the falls from the US side as we need visa to crossover to Toronto. The trip was in 2007, my first ever country beside Asia. The falls on the American side consist of the Bridal Veil, Horseshoe falls and American Falls.

The best time to visit Niagara Falls is actually during summer when the Maid of Mist is operating. Maid of Mist is the boat operator that takes tourists to see the falls closer. Practically I was wet from head to toe at the temperature about 3-4 degrees Celcius during the boat ride. I remembered that I read somewhere that Niaraga Falls had not been frozen during winter since 1910s. Seeing the falls upclose is surreal and made me realised that time never stops for anyone.

Another must to see things at Niagara Falls is the night scene. During summer, there are light that illuminate the falls at night which gives a mystical feel for the viewer. My regret is I didnt drag along my tripod to take a better view of the falls at night. For the best view of the falls is of course from the Canadian side.

New Year Countdown 2009 @ Disney Hollywood Studios

Just found this video from my laptop and decided to share it. We recorded the Mexican wave..wohooo..during the new year countdown at Disneyland back in 2009 while we were waiting for the show to start! If I am not mistaken, the show is Fantasia..

Disney World Epcot @ Florida

I had a chance to visit Florida's Disney World during the New Year back in 2009. Yea..I know it's 2 years ago, havent really got the time to blog bout that but to visit Disneyworld, the largest of all Disneyland in the world during the new year's eve was surreal. Imagine thousands and thousands of people counting down together in the magical world. Besides that, we also wanted to escape the winter cold in Chicago which was in minus degrees..so instead of freezing my butt off in Illinois, would rather spend the winter holidays in the warm Florida.

I had also visited another Disneyland in California back in 2007 but that was only Magic Kingdom and Disney World in Florida has 4 parks altogether; Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. So this was like a second visit to Disneyland.

We went to Hollywood Studios park on the first day while the second day, we went for 3 parks. Of the 3 parks, Disney Epcot is the place where you can see many familiar landmarks around the world such as St Mark's square in Venice, Trevi Fountain in Rome, Hampton court in UK and many more. We went around looking for the Disney mascot for the photos and had to fight with small kids to take photo with Mushu from Mulan, Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Snow White.
